Greenfield is a Milwaukee County city with a tangled origin. The territorial legislature created the town of Kinnikennick in March 1839, split off its southern portion as Franklin that December, and renamed what remained Greenfield in 1841 after postmaster Olney Harrington suggested the name. Neighbors kept taking pieces of the old town, so when Greenfield incorporated in 1957 it held about one third of its original land and was the last municipality in the county to do so. The Root River flows through the western part of the city, and Interstate 41 and Interstate 43 both serve it. Several MCTS bus routes stop here, including Routes 24, 28 and 35, and the paved Powerline Trail has crossed town since 2022. Long ago the Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light interurban stopped at Greenwood Junction. The Montag-Boogk Cream City Brick Home is in the city, and Greenfield High School dedicated its baseball field to Vietnam combat medic Bob Wieland. When you book, say whether you are near the Root River on the west side, close to the Powerline Trail or by an Interstate 41 or 43 exit.

For comparison, a household in Greenfield running three loads a week at a typical $5.00 a load spends about $65 a month at the laundromat, before the driving and the waiting. Renting here starts beating that at roughly 3 loads a week. Under that and the laundromat is genuinely cheaper, which is worth knowing before you call anyone.

Common questions about renting in Greenfield

How much is it to rent a washer and dryer in Greenfield?

Hanks Appliance Rental charges $65 a month for a set. A single washer or dryer on its own is $30 a month. Any delivery charge is set by Hanks Appliance Rental, and repairs are included for as long as you rent.

Is this rent to own?

No. Hanks Appliance Rental rents the machines and keeps owning them. There is no purchase built into the payments and nothing owed when you stop, which is the main thing separating this from Aaron's and Rent-A-Center.

Do I need hookups?

For a standard set, yes: hot and cold water, a drain, and a 120V outlet, plus a vent or a 240V line depending on the dryer. Tell Hanks Appliance Rental what you have when you enquire and they will say straight away whether it will work. Some operators carry ventless machines for places without a vent.

What happens when I want to stop?

You tell them and they collect the machines. That is the difference between renting and rent to own: there is nothing left owing and nothing to sell on.

Who else rents washers and dryers in Greenfield?

Hanks Appliance Rental is the operator we list for Greenfield. The national rent-to-own chains also serve it, on the different terms described above. We list one independent per area rather than selling the same enquiry to three companies at once.
