Is this rent to own?
That depends on the operator, and it is worth asking directly. What this directory is built around is true rental: you pay monthly for the use of the machines, the operator keeps ownership, and you never carry a balance or build toward owning anything. Some of the operators listed here also offer rent to own as a separate option, and their profile says so when they do. If owning the set is your goal, ask that operator what the total comes to over the full term before you sign, and put that number against the table above.
Are the machines new?
Usually not. Most operators rent well maintained pre owned machines, which is a large part of why the monthly rate is what it is. The trade off you are getting is that repairs are covered. Ask your operator what they stock and how old it typically is.
What happens if it breaks?
You tell the operator and they repair or replace it. That is the core of the arrangement. A machine you rent that stops working is their cost, not a bill that lands on you at a bad time.
What if I move?
Depends on where you are going. If you move inside the operator's service area, most will move the set with you. If you move out of it, they pick it up and you stop paying. Either way you are not selling a used washer on Marketplace.

How much does it cost to rent a washer and dryer?
Across the operators we have checked, a washer and dryer set runs $40 to $80 a month, with most between $45 and $60. A single unit is usually $35 to $49. Expect a one time delivery or setup fee somewhere between $40 and $100, and expect a minimum term of around six months from many operators, though some are month to month. What you should not expect is a deposit or a balance owed.
Can I rent a washer and dryer with bad credit?
Usually yes. Most independent operators do not run a credit check, because they keep ownership of the machines and can collect them if you stop paying. That is a genuinely different arrangement from financing an appliance you are buying. Terms vary operator to operator, so ask directly rather than assuming, and be careful of anyone charging a large deposit up front.
Do I need hookups in my apartment?
Yes. An operator delivers and installs the machines, but they connect to existing water, drain and power. If your unit has hookups sitting unused, which is common in apartments and rentals, that is exactly the situation renting solves. If there are no hookups at all, no operator can fix that, and the laundromat or a portable machine is your realistic option.
How fast can I get one delivered?
Faster than most people expect. Operators we have listed publish lead times around 48 hours, and several offer next day or same day when they have stock. It depends on their route and what is in their warehouse that week. Ask when you call, because it is one of the few things that varies a lot between operators.
Is renting cheaper than the laundromat?
It depends entirely on how much laundry you do, and the honest break-even sits near three loads a week. Under that, the laundromat is genuinely cheaper and renting buys you the trips back rather than money. Above it, renting usually wins outright. What if I only need a dryer, or only a washer?
Most operators rent single units, generally $35 to $49 a month, which is worth knowing if you already own one machine. Some also rent refrigerators and stoves. Single unit pricing is listed on each operator's page where they publish it.
How do you pick who gets listed?
We check that an operator is a real, reachable business actually running deliveries in the area they claim, and we ask for their terms in writing so what you see here matches what you get. Listings can be removed. If an operator treats you badly, tell us and we want to know.
Are these listings paid placements?
No. Nobody pays to be listed here and nobody pays for a better position. Who you see is decided by who actually covers your ZIP code, not by what anyone paid. There is no featured slot to buy today, and if that ever changes it will be labelled clearly so you can tell the difference.
You should know how this site makes money rather than find out later.
