Renting in Avon

Most of the housing in Avon is newer, with the typical home built around 2005. Newer homes and apartments usually have hookups on the main floor or in a closet, which keeps delivery quick.
Avon grew from a post office opened in 1868 under the name Smootsdell, which took the name Avon in 1870 after the River Avon in England. Settled around 1830, it only became an incorporated town in 1995. It sits on the eastern side of Hendricks County, with Indianapolis along its eastern edge and Danville, the county seat, about 7 miles west. U.S. Route 36 is the spine of the town and runs roughly 13 miles east to downtown Indianapolis. The old State Road 267 crossing in the center was decommissioned in 2013 and renamed Avon Avenue. Avon Community School Corporation runs Avon High School, three middle schools (North, South and West), the White Oak Early Learning Center and elementary schools named for trees: Cedar, Evergreen, Hickory, Maple, Pine Tree, River Birch, Sycamore and Willow. Its marching band, the Avon Marching Black and Gold, won three straight Bands of America national titles from 2008 to 2010. When you book, the nearest elementary school or your distance from US 36 is an easy way to describe where you are.

For comparison, a household in Avon running three loads a week at a typical $5.00 a load spends about $65 a month at the laundromat, before the driving and the waiting. Renting here starts beating that at roughly 4 loads a week. Under that and the laundromat is genuinely cheaper, which is worth knowing before you call anyone.

Common questions about renting in Avon
How much is it to rent a washer and dryer in Avon?
Indianapolis Washer & Dryer Rental charges $79 a month for a set. Delivery and installation are free, and repairs are included for as long as you rent.
Is this rent to own?
No. Indianapolis Washer & Dryer Rental rents the machines and keeps owning them. There is no purchase built into the payments and nothing owed when you stop, which is the main thing separating this from Aaron's and Rent-A-Center.
Do I need hookups?
For a standard set, yes: hot and cold water, a drain, and a 120V outlet, plus a vent or a 240V line depending on the dryer. Tell Indianapolis Washer & Dryer Rental what you have when you enquire and they will say straight away whether it will work. Some operators carry ventless machines for places without a vent.
What happens when I want to stop?
You tell them and they collect the machines. That is the difference between renting and rent to own: there is nothing left owing and nothing to sell on.
Who else rents washers and dryers in Avon?
Indianapolis Washer & Dryer Rental is the operator we list for Avon. The national rent-to-own chains also serve it, on the different terms described above. We list one independent per area rather than selling the same enquiry to three companies at once.
